Crying and unsettled all evening....

Our DS who is 7 weeks old has spent the last 3 evenings crying and being really unsettled - nothing we do seems to make him happy. he has a full tummy, a clean nappy etc etc and he still grizzles and cries - Any tips of how we can help him settle? It's just tiring.

he may have a little colic? or be cold / fancy more cuddles?

Swaddle swaddle swaddle if it is colic and most HV say it is even when it isn't dramatic eye roll

Dr Harvey Karps book the Happiest baby on the block is worth reading if your hv advises it is colic....

It it helps I was told by my HV that 3 hrs of crying over 3 days counts as colic not what I had traditionally thought (screaming at regular times daily).

There are a number of Colic solutions, I tried Infacol but DD spat out, I tried Colief but you have to add to the milk in advanced and the milk says not to be made up in advanced.... then we still use Denitox DD is 15 weeks on Sat. With Denitox it can go in the milk or if I am going out and about in the water and I just mix in the powder.

If you are BF Infacol or Denitox can be administored oral before a feed, they help break down the wind and make it easier for burps...

There is also grip water, however I find my DD hates this unless I water it down. with Gripe Water they are allowed 30ml per 24hrs I mix 30ML gripe water to 120ML cooled boiled water and give between feeds, she rarely has more than 30ml of the mixture per day.

Isn't dentinox shampoo for cradle cap? do they manufacture other products?

Is he going through a growth spurt? DD did a lot of grizzling/cluster feeding in the evenings at that age and then put on a ton of weight.

If you're breastfeeding you could just let go from boob to boob until he passes out. Tiring but he may start to sleep longer stretches at night.

Not sure how to handle cluster feeding with formula, maybe someone else can advise?

Good luck! It is really wearing and I remember saying many times to my LO 'you can't possibly want more' but she did!

My DD never stops crying all day. She wakes, feeds, cries, feeds, cries, feeds...u get the picture! It's hard to tell when she is hungry again as she never stops crying in between! We have tried all colic products: dentinox, infacol and colief, have tried swaddling: she hates it! We check whether hot, cold, wet, hungry all the obvious...we are starting to think that she just v grumpy! Is this normal??!!!

Perfectly normal! Have you tried swaddling but leaving his arms and shoulders free? Basically he so he feels like he's in a hug....! They usually have a 'shouty time' and for some reason it doesn tend to be in the evening. Are you putting him down for the night or is he staying up with you?
