Rolling

My almost 7 month DS had rolled from front to back at around 3 months. He has spent this month learning how to roll back to front and seems to have mastered it but once on his belly he gets really frustrated. I've tried to teach him to continue the roll by gently encouraging him but he seems to have forgotten how to get from tummy to back. He now tries to get his knees under him and lies there bum in the air, moaning & gets frustrated. Any ideas how to help him?

I woke this morning and he had rolled onto his tummy in his cot. This really worried me as he cant get back to his back.

Does he get much tummy time? Does he tolerate it? Can he lift himself up on his arms?

Frustrated is good, that will help him. Leave him to it as long as he is in safe environment under your observation.

Ive seen him stretch his arms a little but dont think he's pushing with them as much, more arching his back. he's always lifted his head during tummy time by arching his back. He can rest weight on elbows and does frequently. He isnt a fan of tummy time and never has been but we persisted. His frustration often ends in tears. Yesterday he was even crying as soon as he rolled to his tummy but kept doing it. I wonder if he's trying to do something else, like sit up? Sometimes he tries to pull himself forward on his tummy on his playmat.

I think him rolling means he is on par with development, just taking the long route to get there. I'd wait till he is one, see if he gets to crawling, if not I'd ask the GP to have a look.

Will do thanks. Not too worried about crawling, I never done it, just worried he seems to have forgotten how to roll to his back. He used to do it every time I put him on his tummy. Hasnt rolled onto his tummy in bed again though, but has been sleeping on his side.
