My 1 1/2 year old figured out how to open the stairgate

The Lindam one that you have to push on top and at the bottom.

If you can't keep an eye on he/she and you still need the gate get a different stair gate. I have the lindam one where you have to squeeze the handle to open it and that requires some strength.

I also have a fixed gate -the wooden extendable lindam gate and even I struggle with that, but that has to be fixed with screws. Ours in on our stairs.

They can usually open them by the time they are 2, which is why they say they are only suitable till 24 months but you can use them after this as long as the child is supervised.

Just an idea but i use those cupboard locks that hook round the cupboard handles and i loop it around the gate bar and end bar - my 3yo cant work that yet!!
bit hard to explain so if you want me to post a pic to show you just say!
