Constant fingers in the mouth

Pretty sure no issues with teeth, not that we can see a dentist, but ds4 keeps putting his fingers in his mouth. When watching tv, when having a story read, when talking with us, when doing anything it seems that does not involve playing with both hands.

Obviously concerned about good hygiene at present. However, is it usual? I did not notice it before lockdown, but he was in full-time nursery.

Any tips on how to reduce it? It is not thumb sucking.

Thank you. It only noticeably started in lockdown. Am hoping it stops! Speech is good, currently.
