5 month old SCREAMING

My 5 month old DS is a real joy. He's a very easy baby, been sleeping through the night since he was 10 weeks and we have started weaning in the last week and he is loving it (yes we know we're not meant to until he's 6 months but he was almost 11lb born and we had the HV and GP clearance to start at 4.5 months...)

Anyway, over the past 2-3 weeks he's started shrieking. All. The. Time. Screaming at the top of his lungs. He's not upset - on the contrary he seems to shriek more when he finds something funny, or watching the dogs. We've not heard him laugh once, so we wondered if this was his way of expressing himself because he is happy?

Has anybody else's DC's done this - is it a phase? He's on the point of almost losing his voice due to the shrieking and I'm wondering what on Earth the neighbours must be thinking!

Yes this is totally normal, lol I was also horrified when my DD did it because she just went through a phase at that age of doing it all the time!! It does stop though, she’s 27 weeks now and although she’s still loud, we can now sit in the garden without fear that the shrieking banshee is going to come out 😂

Haha, thank you @attillathenun! I had all my fingers and toes crossed that it would just be a phase. He looks so bloody pleased with himself when he does a particularly loud squeal!
