Out-toeing toddler

Hi ladies
My almost 14 month old son has just been referred to orthopaedics as he has quite severe out-toeing and they are concerned about it. He can crawl, stand, cruise furniture etc but as soon as we try to help him walk he is incredibly wobbly. He has been standing and cruising for about 4 months but hasn’t made any other progress and now I’m really worried it is affecting his development. Does anyone have any experience of a child with out-toeing, has it affected their ability to walk unaided and is there anything I can do to help him? It breaks my heart to think of him struggling and I can tell he’s desperate to walk but just cannot balance on his feet as they’re so unstable. Thanks for your help

@mrsmummy111 have you tried him in shoes? Ones with a supportive ankle - maybe like an ankle boot.

My DD has Hypermobility or double jointed in her left foot. She was cruising and trying to walk but unsteady. I saw a physiotherapist who gave us exercises and suggested boots. She now walks much steady and we have changed the boots to summer sandals now and she's absolutely fine!

Worth a go. It gives them confidence and steady them.
