Standing unaided

What age did everyone little ones stand unaided?

Our DB is 12 months, he's been standing and waking when holding onto something since around 9 months, but will not stand unaided (except twice, once when he was drinking a bottle and didn't even realise he was doing it)

I know every baby is different, was curious more than anything? And if I should expect it anytime soon?

Hi, OP, we're just bumping this thread to get it back into Active Conversations. Brew

My daughter is 1 in just over a week and is the exact same. She has been standing with support since 9 months but can't do it unaided. Can't offer any advice but you are not alone!!

@Natalie654321 thank you for the reassurance. I know every baby is different but it’s so hard when you see so many babies the same age standing unaided or even walking.
You’ve made me feel a lot better and that we’re normal, thanks again ☺️

Mine could barely stand unaided before she started walking, and she certainly couldn’t get to her own feet. They don’t all do things in the order you’d expect. Standing unaided came at almost exactly the same time as walking, and she couldn’t pull up to her own feet until a week or more later.

Not realising he’s doing it might be key. I’m told my DH couldn’t walk without holding onto something. So he had a walking cup. If you took it off him, he fell over.....

My son was like that. He stood at 9 months and started cruising and when he was 12 months he stood unaided a few times during the whole month without realising what he was doing. Between 13 months to 13.5 months he started taking unaided steps and finally started walking at 13.5 months. I thought walking would be sooner as he was cruising at 9 months but still had to wait 4.5 months.

my son cruised for what felt like ages and would stand/walk when round furniture but it took until around 14 months for him to stand unaided without holding on to something and independent steps was 15 months. at the time i felt it was never going to happen but it just does!

My daughter couldn’t really stand unaided until she started walking - took her first steps on her first birthday and then was able to stand unaided confidently between 12 and 13 months
