My dd is allergic to cows milk and because it's taken so long for the doctors to decide that it's ok to give her goats/sheeps milk, I've carried on breastfeeding her. She's now almost 16 months and refuses to even try the milk. She drinks water and juice from a bottle and sippy cup, but throws it if it contains milk (whether warm or cold). I've also tried giving her milk from a regular cup, and with a straw, but they dont work either.

I'd really like to stop breastfeeding sometime soon, but need advice on how to get her onto milk that's not from me!

will she eat goat's cheese? how about cheese sauce? she doesn't necessarily HAVE to drink milk a slong as she has a good diet otherwise.

Really?? So I could stop breastfeeding her, and just make sure she gets plenty of other milk containing products?

Cheese is actually one of the things she will eat lots of, and I'm sure I could grate it into her dinners too.

I have also tried her with goats yogurt but she really isnt keen on that.

I think my biggest problem is that she isn't a very good eater and I'd worry that she's getting enough.

milk is good from the point of view that is is a food, is full of essential nutrients. these nutrients are, however, found in other foods. you'll just have to try harder at getting those foods into her if she absolutely refuses milk other than your own. will she take expressed milk from a cup at all? maybe it's the milk in a vessel that's the problem? is she ok drinking water? have you tried her with things like smoothies? so the milk is flavoured?

The smoothies idea is one I hadnt thought of. She loves her juice and likes to try smoothies I make (without milk) so making them with milk would be a fab way to get her drink it. Thank you so much!! I will try this asap
