Tummy time

Hi everyone, I had my daughter during lockdown and I was rushed out of hospital and have seen very little of midwives/health visitors. I’ve kind of been left to fend for myself.
I went to hospital the other day as she had severe acid reflux, as a new mother I was terrified. The nurse told me off for not doing enough tummy time and she told me her skull was getting too flat. It’s the first I had been told about it from anyone. So now I’m worried I’ve left it too late at 2 months old!
My daughter is so laid back it’s unbelievable and i really don’t know how to stimulate her into getting her to really get going so to speak.
She sleeps a lot and I thought I was lucky to have such a laid back baby and have time to catch up on my sleep but now I’m worrying I’ve made her this way by not doing things like tummy time. Have I hindered her development?

You absolutely haven’t hindered her!! It’s definitely not too late to start with the tummy time now. Do you have a baby gym? I would put her in that, both on her front and back. You can also try one of the sensory foil blankets for tummy time, she will like the reflections and noise Smile. It’s totally normal for babies of that age to be sleepy and honestly in terms of entertainment there’s not a huge amount you can do!

I had absolutely no formal tummy time as a baby, due to being born in the 90s when it wasn’t a ‘thing.’

I assure you that my head is not flat as a pancake 😬

Your baby will be fine! That said, tummy time is good for their development and some babies absolutely love it, so crack on! But please don’t worry, because you really don’t need to :)
