16 month old not walking

Hi all so my 16 month old isn't walking or talking yet. He has said one word so far and it's the only one he uses. He doesn't try to say anything else, he has cruised along the sofa but doesn't do it for long and only does it if I place him there other wise he won't do it. He's a big baby and alert, very happy and content and responds well when spoken to and to his name. Should I be worried? Should o take him to the doctors for a check up or is there anything I can do from home to help him walk and talk? Thank-you in Advance Smile

I wouldn't worry yet, he just sounds very content and it is normally content babies who are late to walk and talk!

Keep encouraging him to walk, holding his hands/with a toy/on the furniture etc. And keep talking to him, singing, reading, lots of clear speech and repetition. If you don't see any progress over the next couple of months have a chat with your HV.
