Do you allow your 12 year old out alone?

DS is 12 and has started going out to meet a friend locally, either in a park or wandering our local area. He is always contactable on this phone and is within a 10-15 minute walk from home. Just wondering if other parents allow the same sort of freedom or if I am being a bit too lax. He obviously travels to and from school by himself and before lockdown had met friends once or twice at the weekend. I feel relatively ok about it although less sure about exactly what they are up to given that everything is closed although I believe they are in the park, playing, messing around etc. I don't want to stop him meeting his friend without good reason as it has really lifted his spirits that he has beeb able to do so in the last week. I might be worrying unnecessarily but wanted a sense check.
