Walking and sleeping

DD (18 months) has only in the last two to three weeks begun walk around independently. She had been cruising and holding hands for 5/6 weeks before this.

Going by how she was when beginning to crawl and cruise we expected this to coincide with extra tiredness but the opposite seems to have happened. She has been waking early, not settling at night, night-waking occasionally and sometimes refusing her (one) nap. She still seems reasonably energetic despite all of this. Its unusual for her as she is normally a very solid sleeper.

Has anyone else experienced similar. Is it (please) 'just a phase' connected to her independence?

my little one is 18 months old and didn't crawl until she was 12 months...she walked at roughly 16 months and because she could get to more things she started going to bed later and later...i always used to just wait until she was so tired she couldn't stand up anymore, but i soon put a stop to it when it was creeping onto 10pm..mine was just into everything because i suppose it was a new thing and lots more to reach and do..she doesn't have a nap in the day anymore but now back in a routine she sleeps well all night. So yes, probably a phase...
