My little girl didn't say her first word until she was around 2 (baba) and even now she's nearly 3 and doesn't say much, when she does speak I can barely understand her, she babbles. She gets frustrated and I'm wondering if it's because she can't tell me what's wrong half the time. Her vocabulary consists of ''mummy, 'daddy, nanny, grandad , a few family names which are hard to understand, no, yes , hiya etc she tries to say names of things but it's not spoken properly so I can't really understand what she's asking for. A side note, she didn't crawl until 1 and didn't walk until 2. Do you think she's just a slow learner or maybe there could be something wrong? Did anyone else's child take a long time to speak properly?

My DD was a late talker too. I would get her on the waiting list for speech therapy, you can self refer or your GP/HV can refer her.

I'd also get her a hearing check, again you can self refer or GP/HV. Speech Therapy usually like them to have had a hearing test before they start Smile

If she's meeting all or most of her milestones late, it's also worth asking your GP to refer her to a Paediatrician for assessment. At least then if she does need any extra help, you'll be able to access it Thanks
