Cries with dad

My baby is 6 weeks old. Obviously with this lockdown she has only ever known me and her dad.

For the past couple of weeks now she always scream cries whenever her dad picks her up. For example, I do the night feeds (I find it easier waking up) and he will get up with her at 5-6am so I can sleep in. Problem is all I can hear from downstairs is my daughter screaming and my husband trying his hardest to calm her down. It’s even got to the point now where she won’t take a bottle from him, and instead screams like she’s in pain. Where with me she takes it no problem. When she’s upset and he has really tried to calm her, but it’s just not working, he hands her to me and it’s almost instant calm.

He got upset the other day about it and it’s heart breaking to see because he is really trying. I just don’t know what to do. When she cries I don’t butt in unless he asks but it’s so draining to see him upset and then hear her cry so much. You can just see it in his face that it hurts. And I’m dreading that it will get to a point where he just gives up
Because it’s easier, ie so we don’t have to listen to her cry so much.

I’m really at a loss and feel so emotionally drained by it all. Has anyone ever experienced this or any advice? I’m thinking of calling the health visitor to see if there is anything we can do that we are not already trying. I just wish she’d treat us equally.

Does he sing to her? Do the see saw motion looking at her face? Eyes nose cheeky cheeky chin song? Can he take something that smells of you down? He doesn’t wear anything with a strong smell or hasn’t changed deodorant or something has he? (baby’s at that age don’t have great vision so these are not weird questions). Re the bottle, is it a burping issue maybe, my husband was awful at burping. I have so many of these but can’t type all of them. Available on PM if needed.
