Potty training before talking

My LO turned 2 last month. We've had a potty about for several months and encouraged him to sit on it / use it..... But today was the first day he's properly weed in it. We bribed him with a bic bic initially but he's done about 9 wees in it in a few hours (and had some misses about 5 times around the house).

He still barely speaking but his understanding is very good. I'm wondering whether the amount of wees he's doing coupled with the poor speaking development whether I should hold off for a bit longer or just go for it. He definatly won't tell me he needs a potty and will likely have many accidents (which I have no problem with) but if I ask and encourage him he probably will use it.

Check for a dry nappy after 2 hrs ( eg after afternoon nap? ( that usually shows some element of control is there). Honestly though even so, I would wait 4 - 5 months until he’s a little more mature and then go for it intensively and consistently.
