5 yo weeing down side of bed intentionally

As the title says... has anyone experienced this?

While cleaning my boys bedroom I discovered my 5 year old had/has been weeing down the side of the bed. There is none on the mattress, nor bed frame which is untreated wood so I would see. He also still wears pull ups to bed as were struggling to get him out of bed wetting. The sheer volume of wee and placement suggest it was intentional and not an accidental leak that may of somehow got there.

When I asked him I got I dont know etc... and not really any information. I explained I was upset and that he must not wee anywhere other than the toilet. We have no issues with him using the toilet in the day.

He has 1 older, 1 younger brother and one on the way. He seems excited etc and hasn't shown any signs he may not be happy about a new addition.

He is behind at school, but hes only in reception so havent pushed this. He doesnt seem to enjoy the academic stuff but is more creative. I dont think there are any issues at school other than a general dislike.

Any ideas, or experiences welcome.

I hate to say this OP, but toiletting issues in otherwise toilet trained kids can often be a sign of sexual abuse or similar trauma.

Im sure there's another explanation in your situation, but I would feel really uncomfortable not raising the issue just in case.

Oh gosh. I hope not!
Would you advise a doctors trip? I've sat down with partner and weve discussed it all this afternoon and were really concerned about it generally as obviously it's a bit bizarre. We didnt know if it was something the doctor would even listen to or just palm off as him being a child and misbehaving.

I'd wait and see if it happens again, now that you've told him not to. It might just be he needed to go in the middle of the night and was lazy about it.

It sounds like he is not comfortable weeing in his nappy but either is too afraid or can’t make it in time to the toilet!? Perhaps put a potty right next to his bed. With old towel under. With Maybe sone tissue in the pottyto aim at? Choc button avd a sticker in the morning for using the pot?..
