Watching too much TV during lockdown

Have a 27 month old and an 8 week old. I'm worried about the effect TV will have in my child's development. He's exhausted all his toys really and he does play with them for short bursts. He does keep himself entertained throughout the day with different bits and bobs, but it's a looong day now. We go in the garden A LOT and we take a walk once a day. But he is watching a couple of hours TV a day. It is mainly counting, nursery rhymes etc and cbeebies. He seems to learn a lot from it too, but I'm worried about effect on development.

Sounds to me like he is doing loads. Toys, garden, walks, and all whilst looking after a tiny baby. Cut yourself some slack.

Awwww thanks. Just hard with lockdown as usually we'd pop out in the car, even if was just a shopping trip, he'd enjoy that as we got all the bits, loading it in trolley etc and it broke up the day a bit. We also miss our swimming and trips to nannys house.

Before lockdown my 14 month old had only watched tv a handful of times . Now it’s most days and I feel so guilty BUT we do get outside everyday , we go for walks and I have a backyard with lots of activities .

It’s just hard on rainy days or when my DS is restless and bored of his toys . Im also pregnant and exhausted 😔

I keep telling myself after lockdown I’ll quit the tv ( or at least limit it massively ).

I don’t know why I’m so hard on myself . It’s not natural to parent during lockdown and in the grand scheme of things , too much screen time should be the least of my worries .

I don't see why TV is an issue if the right things are being watched and it's not at the expense of doing things together or really excessive. Our 28 month old has her own Android Tablet and she seems to have learned so much from it to the point where she knows all her colours, shapes, animals, the weather can count items up to 20 & is constructing sentences of 10+ words with the roughly correct syntax. She can for example tell us what she's being doing at nannys house whilst we are at work in quite a lot of detail or tell us what dress she'd like to wear today.

A bit of educational television won't do them any harm, ours used to love to watch "Little Baby Bum" all the time & has new moved on to The Wiggles, Peppa Pig, Peter Rabbit & something she's found herself called Steve & Maggie.

This is where I feel so guilty, lockdown is hitting me really hard I have a 1 year old and she watches far too much telly, she loves it Elmo, sesame Street, music videos everything on YouTube basically but I haven't went out the house in about a week or so even longer cause there's no where to go, nobody to see and if I went to the shops I would just waste a ton of money so I decide not too, I feel totally in a rut and feel like I can't get out of it, can't get myself organised, can't be bothered to go for walks or anything but I'm constantly playing blocks, jigsaws all sorts with my little one but I just feel what I'm doing isn't enough and I could go on more walks so we both get fresh air and do things together, she's been a lockdown baby most her life and hasn't had the luxury of play groups or anything I just don't know what to do to make her learning better 🥺
