How long until they toddle

Just wondering how long it is from when you child starts to pull themselves up on everything (handbags? included) to when they actually start walking by themselves.
I realise most kids start pulling up at different ages but wondered if there was a pattern between once they started pulling up and when they started to walk.

everyone is different like you said!
my dd was pulling herself up at about 8 months and cruising along furniture at about 9, but didn't walk unaided until she was about 11 months.

jane313 · 08/10/2004 18:29

Mine was pretty similar. Pulled up at 8 months, cruising a couple of weeks after and then walking at 11 and a half momnths

PicadillyCircus · 08/10/2004 18:45

DS started pulling himself up at around 8.5 months and cruising a month ago....and is still pulling himself up and crusing!

He's 10.5 months now.

So looks like he might be walking by around a year or so or might not

Clayhead · 08/10/2004 18:47

dd pulled up at about 15 months, walked at 16.

ds not pulling up yet (13 months)

KBsMum · 08/10/2004 18:49

ds1 pulled up at 10 months, walking at 11 months.
ds2 pulled up at 13 months and still not walking at 14 months. Not far off though I reckon

muminlondon · 08/10/2004 20:29

dd pulled up at 11 months, started cruising at 12 months, took first step at 13 months, was walking/squatting/turning at 14 months.

but I know other babies (boys) who crawled earlier, pulled up at 9 months, took first steps at 14 months, just about steady at 15 months. They were good at throwing balls though.

DS pulled himself up maybe 6months+3weeks, didn't walk until 9m+5 days... can't remember so exactly with DD, but probably similar, only about 3 weeks older for each.

Hulababy · 10/10/2004 19:55

Not sure if there's a pattern. DD was on her feet, walking with my hands at 5 months. Cruising with furniture a month later. Pulling herself up by herself at about 7 months. She walked at 10 months.

logic · 10/10/2004 19:59

ds pulled himself up on furniture at 11.5 months but didn't take his first steps until nearly 17 months and didn't actually walk properly unaided until he was 19 months! It nearly killed me.

ernest · 10/10/2004 20:36

mine also pulled themselves up at about 10 months but didn't actually walk till about 16/17 months

poppyseed · 10/10/2004 20:39

ditto with DS. He pulled himself up at about 10 months but didn't walk until 151/2 months. BOYS!!!

Kittypickle · 10/10/2004 21:02

DS pulled himself up at 10 months and isn't walking at 13 months, and reading the last couple of posts I am not holding my breath !

hoxtonchick · 10/10/2004 21:10

My ds was the same: crawled/pulled up at 10 months, walked at 15.

coppertop · 10/10/2004 21:28

Ds1 pulled himself up at 9 months and walked at 14 months.

Ds2 pulled himself up at 10 months and took his first steps on his 1st birthday.

cellulitequeen · 10/10/2004 22:03

DS still crawling at 14.5mnths!

bunnyrabbit · 11/10/2004 15:07

Oh bugger. DS (13m) was bum shuffling at 6 months, crawling at 9 months, pulling himself up at 10 1/2 months. Looks like I'm gonna have a long wait for him to walk!!

I have to admit, I got to the point where I was embarrassed to leave the house I could tell that people were staring and judging us.

handbagaddiction · 11/10/2004 22:59

Bottom shuffling at 11 months, pulling up to a kneeling postion at 12 months - not showing the slightest interest in pulling up to standing yet and she's now 13 months. So cruising and walking....who knows!??

jenkel · 11/10/2004 23:30

Dd2 is 7 months and is driving me crazy as she wants to stand all the time, if she can get hold of our hands she pulls herself up. Dont think she will crawl as she is so desperate to stand. DD1 was pulling her self up at 8 months and walking holding your hand a few weeks later. Was walking quite confidently on her 1st birthday.

muminlondon · 12/10/2004 11:36

My dd never took my hand to walk and missed out the cruising stage altogether (apart from her toddle truck which gave her independence!). For ages she didn't pull up, but pushed down with her hands on low objects in a sort of yoga pose with her bottom sticking out. She also practised squatting, and stood up unaided before she walked.
