As my little boy may be starting school in January!!

I was walking past the school and went to reception to just ask about putting names down ect, she asked how old he is (3 in Dec) and said 'ah, will probably start half time in January'

Put his namedown and said she will contact me in a few weeks!!

I am so [shocked]

I knew it would happen - but Im totally not prepared (suffering from PFB syndrome here!!!)

Arggghhh, my baby!!!

You are allowed to cry the day they start school and not before by the way!

kitsandbits · 14/09/2007 19:15

A lot of Catholic school have their own admin forms though. The Church schools round here are not included in the usual way.

yoo hoo Mo !

Catholic schools take application forms directly to the school here, avoiding the LEA system that everyone else follows.

Kbear · 14/09/2007 19:18

Thought you wanted the red Regatta coat I am selling - you gave me your email address. Am I confused? Or are you?

ScoobyDooooo · 14/09/2007 19:18

Yes but it's not school it is nursery as he is only 3 years old. when they actually start school you have to go through the education system.

Nurseries do lists cod.

MaureenMLove · 14/09/2007 19:18

Catholic schools are different cod, don't have to go through the LEA system, separate forms etc, so kitsandbits is doing the right thing, although I must say 3 years old in full uniform (just 3, at that!) seems a bit OTT.

kitsandbits · 14/09/2007 19:21

They're not different when it comes to applications for Reception intake. schools opted otu of LEA control (ie. VA or chrch funded) still have to be named by you as part of the general LEA school application procedure (which varies from one area to another) but they can prioritise the allocation of their places according to their own specific criteria (in this case probably practising Catholics or attendance at certain churches would get priority over others living nearby, for example) and may ask you to fill in a separate form returned directly to them too. Attendance at the Nursery is not a guarantee of a place in Reception, you have to reapply with everyone else.
