HELP! My baby is HUGE!

Hi all, happy Easter!

Looking for a bit of advice seen as getting hold of my HV is a bit difficult...

I have a three month old DS, always been a big boy - 9lb 5oz born. Tried so hard to BF him but for various reasons (TT, me back in hosp with infection) we moved him onto formula at 8 weeks. We feed him 5 times every 24 hrs, he takes 7oz each feed.

He's healthy and happy...but enormous. Already in 6-9 month clothes and a whopping 18lbs 10oz. Confused

Consulted the red book and he's now moved from 98th centile to 99.6th centile. Should I be concerned? Anyone else have an enormous baby? He's got his second jabs next week so I will ask the nurse, but in the meantime I'd be grateful for some help!

Are you and/or his dad tall? And is his weight centile in keeping with his height centile?

marvellousmaplesyrup · 12/04/2020 11:53

I guess so - DH is 6' and I am 5'7

We have just measured his length and he is 67cm - so 99.6th for that too. Crikey. Best get used to having a big lad by the looks of things!

Thank you for your reply x

I think just keep a close eye on it but if he's following the same centile lines as he grows he probably is just a big boy and will probably be annoying you by lifting you up by the time he's a teenager Grin I would insist on it being investigated though if he starts to grow faster than that line or if you notice anything else unusual for example hypermobile joints xx

I will do - thank you again for your help xx

He’s more or less following his centiles, I really wouldn’t worry. My DN has always been on the 98th centiles for height and weight and has always been beautifully in proportion Smile

He might cost you a bit in formula though Grin

Awesome.

Worlds strongest man contender in the making 🙂👍🏻

Sounds fine to me, my DS1 has always been a big lad too around the 99th centile for height and weight. He's 3 now and tall and sturdy but not at all fat, yours may be built the same, and I'm sure he's perfect 😀
