8 month old not mouthing

Hi

My 8 month old has been hitting milestones a bit later than the bog standard stated on the internet. I'm not too concerned about that as he is very happy, responsive, aware of what is going on and does most things as expected.
However, he seems to have completed missed the mouthing stage, he puts his fingers in his mouth and sucks them/chews them. He can pick up toys and things that are placed in front of him but will not bring them to his mouth.
This is now having a knock on effect to his weaning and I'm worried he'll not manage to feed himself.
I'm just after other people's experiences, or if anyone knows what I can do to encourage this or if it is something I should be concerned about.
I am aware that all babies are different and develop at their own pace but I'm just really wanting other people's experiences.

Thanks

How is he with finger foods? Does he try and bring those to his mouth at all?

Not really, he'll pick food up, shake it around, move it towards his mouth and then drop it 😩
