Is this just a blocked duct

Hi there

We are first time parents and therefore we are full of the usual nerves, but made worse because we can't have family and friend over and are avoiding the hospital and Doctors for none essentials because of COVID

Anyway, our son is just over a week old and has yellow discharge from one eye. The same eye lid also looks quite red and sore, and the amount of discharge is quite high. It typically needs cleaning every hour or so!

I have read this could be just a blocked duct, but am also concerned it could be something more and may damage his sight or cause him pain.

Really hoping someone can set my mind at ease

Because your baby is so small, I'd call your HV and send them the pictures. You need to be overly cautious with tiny babies, even in a time of crisis.
