Routine hearing tests for toddlers - when?

Does anyone know at roughly what age children should have routine hearing tests? Ds had one at 5 days and the usual 6 week check, and has now been given an appointment for one in a few days time (at 17 months). I didn't think he was due one until 21-24 months, but know next to nothing about these things.

I think it must be a mistake, as it is from a clinic outside our primary care trust, and an absolute nightmare to get to. I've been trying to speak to someone at the clinic or one of the local hvs, but everyone is awol. I'm hoping I can just cancel and take him to a local one in a few months time.

I didnt think they got any after the one they get at birth. There used to be one at 8 months here but it was done away with after the one done after birth in the hospital was brought in.

I'm sure both my DD and DS had one when they were toddlers. Think they might have been a bit older than yours.

Appreciate you dont want to cancel and sounds like you having fun getting hold of any Health Care professionals. Tried talking to the receptionist at your local Health Centre.
I know ours are very helpful especially when spoken to nicely (whoever said kissing ars was wrong ?)

Have checked both Child Health Books and both of mine were checked at 8 months and 3 years.

This doesn't mean that your Health Authority should do the same tho.

I thought you only got them if you thought there was an issue

DS had one early this year - it was outside our PCT but there was nothing more local

No routine ones here, (apart form the one in hospital when born which is new and the can your child hear question at the routine checks-which incidentally you have to book yourself and don't often happen because of lack of staff)
