17 month old tantrums or something else?

Every new stage of development seems to hit my daughter like a ton of bricks! For the last two days and nights she has started having huge crying fits where nothing can console her. Even at night, we are having to try and distract her with telly while she wimpers and crys at 3am. She goes catatonic, arching her back and twisting/writhing around. Reaches out for me but as soon as I pick her up she throws herself down and turns away screaming. At this point I have no idea what sets her off.

Is this tantrum territory? Or could it be an indication of something else?
She still has basically no words, lots of babbling etc and the odd seemingly accidental "mumma" but that's it. I'm worried and I hate not being able to comfort her or figure out what she needs.

Please be kind!

Could she be unwell?

If she’s not speaking at all, have a read of this on ICan. It may be worth referring to SLT but I’m not sure if you can do this before 2 years.

Has your HV suggested doing the m-chat test too?
