DD is 15.5 months and we have been asked to go for her 12 month check
Anyway, I can't remember if they get hearing check at this, do they, or is it just your standard weight and height check and pnd questionnaire? "Are you feeling well in yourself" etc etc etc [smile

I thought they only did 8mths then 2 years

They don't do hearing unless you say you think your LO can't hear - they you get a referral

I know they (hv) changed their "schedule" about a year or so ago, so I'm guessing the wee red books are out of date, if thats where the 8months and 2 years comes from?

FLIER we only have 8months and 2yrs here too

Weegle · 06/09/2007 19:45

we have 6 week check and that is IT! Doesn't bother me too much but it can be nice to know your DC are developing roughly along the right time line - I only have a clue by comparing with DS peers.

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 06/09/2007 19:46

oh and 6 week obviously!

cant believe they only do 6 weeks, i wouldnt be too bothered about the 2yr one but the 8 month one is useful for them to flag anything they think as really abnormal

Seona1973 · 06/09/2007 20:00

we dont get a 8month or 2 year check either. They are apparently going to do some sort of check at the immunisation clinics or something instead.

FLIER · 07/09/2007 08:30

Oh well, just as well I like my hv then!
God, you'll all be thinking I'm being kept an eye on, for some reason!

DD2 had a 12 month check - dd1 had hers at 8 months but that was 3 years ago and they've changed the system now in our area.

Key things that they cover are - walking yet? How do they get around? Climbing etc. Speech - are they saying any words yet - like mama or dada? Feeding - eating well and self feeding? Lumpy food / finger food, etc.?

And then..have you got any concerns about development, questions you want to raise. how are you in yourself?

They will also weigh but ours didn't do a height thing.

With respect to hearing, in our area they all having an electronic hearing test at 12 days old now, so unless you express any particular concerns, they won't recheck this.

Hope this helps
