Is it teething or something else?

My DS has been crying and grabbing at his ear since he was 12 weeks. I've taken him to the doctors and they have said they believe it must be teething as they can see nothing in his ear. He's now 21 weeks and he's still the same- no teeth yet though!!

Is this normal, it seems he's been suffering with this for so long now, the only thing that helps to settle him is nurofen- which I'm having to give most days.

Has anyone else experienced/ is experiencing something similar?

My boy teethed from about the same age (drooly, whiny and chewing everything), got his first 2 teeth at 4 and 5 months, and then had 10 teeth by 10 months. No new teeth since then (13 months). He was in a lot of pain for a good while as they took so long to come through!

Teething is very hard on them :(
