Help! DD has v. annoying habit need to get rid of it asap!!

My little girl who is 15 months puts her hand in my mouth or grabs my face for comfort it's handy at times as it does stop her crying instantly, however it really has to stop as the grabing can be quite painful!! Any ideas would be gratefully received. I know it sounds v. odd and I have no idea how it started!

Does she have a favourite teddy? Maybe you could divert her straight on to having a cuddle from teddy for comfort instead of grabbing you. Or if she grabs, put her down and tell her no grabbing; of course she'll need picking up again almost straight away but she may learn that she'll get cuddles when she doesn't hurt you. You don't have to put up with that!
