That I will not have any more of his friends over to play.

He has a real problem being around children of his own age for any length of time.

He starts by being hyper and over-excited. He then moves on to being plain unkind-if the invitee won't do exactly what he wants.

He then spoils whatever the invitee has chosen to do

I am sick of it and donot know what to do with him! He can be soooo lovely and kind but on other days he is lucky he has any friends at all.

When will it change

How did he take it?

If he's totally upset maybe you need to give it a timescale, eg not for a month or something.

I think I would have done the same. Playdates are an invention from the devil anyway. He gets company at school, and if this were me I think I might try to ensure that he went to a club outside school just to mix with others outside the school environment, but I wouldn't obsess about it.

You've done the right thing I think. He's only six - needs a bit more maturity obviously, before he can cope with the excitement!

he took it surprisingly well-that's fine kind of attitude. I think he finds them tough too.

why on earth do we do it to ourselves?
