Would you send your Dc away?

My Dc since starting secondary school has completely changed stolen money from me and siblings and now has been suspended from school for taking alcohol into school they are only in year 8. It's a good school but has gotten in with a wrong crowd. I have tried 1000 times to speak to them and try to get them to open up to me and I get so many broken promises that I now feel like I need to break this cycle. I have family abroad and me and my Dh are thinking about sending them away to live with extended family for a few months. I'm just not sure it will do any good?

What other things have you tried OP?

...please don't send your 12yr old away from home, it will absolutely ruin your relationship. While their behaviour might improve (because they're completely isolated and entirely alone) it's likely to cause a spiral into depression (because they're completely isolated and entirely alone) and will send a very clear message - "we don't care enough about you to help you, so now you're someone else's problem."

Doing this will fuck up their education, their social development and their mental health, and will leave you with a child who hates you. You don't get to opt out of parenting just because you don't like how your child is behaving.
