Hi everyone . It's actually the first time I am writing here.
This is regarding my 7.5 year old son. He finds it difficult to fall asleep and he struggles a little bit to wake up in the morning . He wont go to bed before 10 -11 pm, sometimes even 11.30 . We are also arguing with him regarding screen time . I feel that he is somehow addicted to either watching kids programmes on the telly or playing video games on our mobile phones. We are trying a lot to reduce his screen time .
Additionally , he has developed a spider phobia which is quite concerning . I feel that he needs help , probably a children psychologist could help but they are so expensive !!
Please share any ideas regarding this problem or if there is any cheaper solution to seek help from school for example? Or other communities....thank you very much in advance

It honestly just sounds like he needs more clear boundaries OP! You're the adult...stop all TV at 5.30pm. No arguments and no exceptions.

He can wind down then. He can't sleep because he's having too much screen time.

Lots of children have phobias...treat that as a separate issue and seek help if you need to.

Yes sorry to sound harsh but I agree, you need to just remove screen time at least an hour before bed and then enforce a proper bedtime routine. He is 7 not 17 and you're the parents! You can't call that an 'issue' It's just him not having clear boundaries. ITO the spider phobia how much is it actually affecting him? Phobias are very common in all of us. If he's generally able to live his life then I think you could save a lot of money on therapy by just accepting it.
