5 year old anger/frustration

Hi, I'm new here so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I would like some advice on how to help my 5yo daughter deal with her frustration. When she trys something new, if it's not "perfect" (in her eyes) she can't cope emotionally.
She will have a huge meltdown, screaming, crying, shouting, hitting me, throwing things! This can go on and on, it can take ages for her to calm down.
This can be after 1 try at doing something new, or if she has drawn a picture and it doesn't look exactly how she wanted, or if she misreads a word in a book and when she loses at a game.
We have pretty much given up playing any sort of game that has a winner as it was emotionally draining for everyone.

I'm just not sure how I can help her deal with such strong emotions 😞
Even if I leave it until she has calmed down and then have a little chat it makes no difference in how she reacts next time.
Would love any advice xx

Hello and welcome to MN Thanks

I’m not sure about this one. I know of this book which might be helpful but it’s aimed at parents of slightly older children.

Hopefully, someone will be along soon Smile
