Tantrums with new activities

My daughter has just turned 3 and we’re getting frustrated with her behaviour. She has tantrums/emotional meltdowns or is generally really difficult (normally about getting dressed) when we want to try new activities with her - ice skating, snow showing are two recent examples (we live in Canada so these are run of the mill activities!). A lot of the times we have to abandon doing the activity. A lot of our friends’ kids can already skate or ski and they do lots of outdoor activities, which is something we were really excited about doing with our kids. I know every kid is different and develops at different rates, I just was looking for any tips and tricks on how to introduce my daughter to new activities with us in a better way so that she’s excited about it? Or how to calm the situation? I don’t know... even someone who has experienced the same sharing their stories would be helpful as I hate feeling frustrated and disappointed in regards to my kid. Thanks
