Toys / entertainment for 18 month old

Hi Everyone

I've been seeing a very bored 18 month old lately in my house. He can't walk yet (he does on the sofa) and has more energy lately than I ever imagined.
I've tried a few things like a big bucket of water and toys or just filled with balls in it, puzzles, small blocks and building a tower (I build he flips it over) chuck the balls into the bucket etc but nothing seems to entertain him / that he likes to play with it. He's got stacking rings, a small shape sort house, a few puzzles, balls, big soft blocks and small wooden blocks and 2 toys with lights and sounds but he only plays with one of them. He's got a few more smaller things but I think he mostly outgrew it.

I keep on telling my DH to look for new things and to rotate them but he's ademend our boy doesn't need anything else and with us off for 3 weeks of our play groups and places I'm already dreading these holidays.

Does anyone has any tips or ideas for my little man? I can't seem to come up with things and the things I do come up with (drawing or yogurt paint) my LO doesn't like Hmm thanks Flowers

Also tried a "search toy box" with strips of very soft paper and toys hidden in them but apparently that was too messy for LO's taste Confused

At 18 months we had all the sorts of things you talked about plus two different shape sorters, some stacking rings etc. We also got connect 4 (a cheap version). and he loves putting the tokens in. Could colouring be something your 18 month old might take to?

I kind of think your husband may be right, if he's not playing with the things you have then buying more may be pointless.

Is there anything he particularly likes? Could you build around this. Eg. My kid just likes sorting things and putting them in their different places. 😂

That connect 4 might be a good idea @Rubyroost. Mine loves everything with sounds, lights and then some more lights and flashing things Grin He also loves his shape sorter or just generally putting things into pots or buckets (hence the bucket with balls) I tried colouring twice but he thought the crayons were a snack for him to eat not to colour with Grin
