Sudden fussiness when feeding

My son is 16 weeks and this past week he has been having less than usual during his feeds, his normal routine is 7oz every 3-4 hours, finishing all bottles. All of a sudden he doesn't finish his bottles, sometimes screams when his feed is due and won't have the bottle at all, He's been on the same formula since birth and has never showed signs of not liking it, he doesn't suffer from colic or reflux. This change of mood has just come suddenly, I've been told that at this age babies go through a "phase" and will grow out of it, but is this true or a myth? I'm so worried about him as he's just not himself this week at all.

He could be teething? Ds never finishes his bottles when his gums are sore. He can also scream for a feed then refuse it. I give him teething gel and try again which sometimes works. If that doesn't help I give ibuprofen or calpol, wait 10-15 minutes then offer feed again and 9 times out of 10 he will take it. Hope you get to the bottom of it and he's back to his normal self soon

@StrawberryDreamX wow I never thought of that, thank you so much. Is there any specific signs I should be looking for if he is teething, as I've looked online as. It states excessive drooling which my DS doesn't have he's just been a lot more cranky and loss of appetite? Did your son just show these two signs also?

Drooling, red cheeks, trying to bite/chew/suck on things (usually their hands), irritable and fussy, refusing milk or food, trouble sleeping. When Ds started teething his routine went out the window and had all of the above. He's 9 months old and still no teeth!

My wee girl did the same when she was 14 weeks lasted a few days, was ok and then had her vaccinations on the 16th week and she's off her milk again. She's doing exactly the same as your wee one.. I sometimes put her in her rocker chair and she takes a wee bit more that way. It's either the side effects of the vaccines still or she's teething as she's drooling, chewing everything etc...
