Hello, I saw a similar thread about an older child being clingy, my daughter has become impossible as she hardly sleeps during the day so I have to pacify her all the time. She is over four months and has really frightening tantrums when I put her down. On Monday she fell and was cleared by A&E, so I feel worried in case there is a connection, but at the same time I cannot do a thing, not even eating without her screaming for attention. As she is heavy and I'm a smallish person, my backache is waking up as I have to lug her around. This is a recent development, she was easier before. Any idea? She is driving me mad.

Sounds like she is overtired, too tired to sleep. What sends her to sleep at night? Any chance you can use the same methods in the day to send her off? The more she sleeps in the day, the less fractious she will become.

How are you carrying her? Do you have a sling or front carrier?

I remember eating my meals with DS in a front carrier when he was this age. I'd go for a long walk outside and he'd drop off and then I'd eat meals protecting him from spills with a napkin over his head!

My 5 month old dd got a little, ahem trickier recently. I think she is frustrated at not being able to move by herself. Perhaps this is why your DD likes to be carried?

We manage with at least 2 daily walks in the buggy. She sometimes protests when I put her into the buggy but after we've been moving for 2 or 3 minutes she settles.

The carrier doesn't really help with backacke, i wish i had a big house and can wheel her around in the pram now the weather is crap. She goes to sleep after breastfeeding and she does a little bit during the day but not for long, I'm still in my PJ. She used to be such a good baby before. Yes, bscott, she is the same, even took aversion to the car seat. I also suspect my mum's visit made things worse as she took her up all the time instead of leaving her on the gym.

Well the weather is improving so fresh air will help again, but perhaps you could consider a new carrier. I found the Baby Bjorn agony to wear after quarter of an hour or so, whereas I can wear the Hugabub all day because baby's weight is evenly distributed over my torso. Worth considering?

Yes, I can sew and just came across this site with patterns to make slings:
