11 month old scratching faces

Hi,

My LG is 11 months and she has a habit of scratching peoples faces if they get close. She's not upset or angry, in fact a lot of the time she's excited to see that person. I tell her no and she does it again. I have tried putting her down when she does it but next time it's the same thing. She's hurt her dad quite bad with a scratch down his face and my poor mum looks like she's been attacked by a cat! Anyone else had any experience with this and could offer any advice?

TIA x

Need to keep being consistent and try not to give the opportunity to face scratch. It is probably a phase and will pass

She’s so young and won’t understand for a good while that she is hurting people - until then it is your responsibility to warn people so they don’t get hurt.

My baby used to suddenly swipe her hand very hard at people’s faces and really hurt them- so I used to hold her facing away from me when I was carrying her to avoid getting hurt. She eventually just stopped doing it.
