Seriously going to brain my son!!!!

I used to be a calm, talking mother now I've turned into a mad shouting, occasionally screaming mother. My ds nearly 5 in a few months has become unbearable. He is rude, completely ignores me most of the time, can be aggressively mouthy to me and DH. Has no regard for other people and will delibarately ignore any one who asks him a question followed by a dirty look. Always wakes up in a fowl mood and generally is not a very nice child to be around lately.
I know that this began about a year ago, but he has got worse, I used to pick my battles but now the battles are consatant because he is doing something that is potentially dangerous to himself or his baby brother, or could damage my furniture.
I know this is a phase, but can someone please tell me how they dealt/deal with their child of similar age and behaviour without flying off the handle. Like I said earlier I used to be able to be calm and talk to my son, now he has a once nicely approach and then I will shout or scream at him. I don't like doing it and every morning I wake up thinking I am not going to shout at him and within an hour of him getting up, I have shouted at him! This is beginning to exhaust me, especially if I don't get a good nights sleep because of ds2 (7months). Any advice on calming myself down (already do yoga nightly!) I don't want my son to grow up hating me because all I did was shout at him.
