sucking soft toy and speech

Our 2.5yr old can't sleep unless sucking the arm of her favourite bunny - fine, except at her recent development check the hv was worried about her speech. She has difficulty pronouncing consonants clearly ('golly' for 'dolly', eg) and the hv thought the constant sucking at night might be a reason. Has anyone else had any similar problem?

I really wouldn't worry.
We were told the same as ds is a thumb sucker and said 'bellow' for 'yellow' I asked on here and was told it's perfectly normal, it's how they learn to speak etc. He corrected it himself as he got older.

Thanks compo - I think we'll just wait and see what happens, and perhaps try to wean her off this particular bunny (it has to be washed every other day, yeurgh!)
