Hello,
My name is Olivia and I am currently enrolled at the Tavistock and Portman Clinic in NW London, studying a Masters in Psychoanalytic Studies. As part of the course, I am required to partake in infant observation, so I am currently looking for a mother and new born infant to observe within the home setting once a week for an hour, for a minimum of one academic year. I am required to start before the baby is 4 weeks old, so if you are a mother who is due to give birth very soon and may be interested, please feel free to contact me. The purpose of this observation is to gain a more in-depth understanding of a baby's typical development during the first year of life, as this is when key stages in emotional, mental and physical growth occur. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me through mumsnet or via email me at: [email protected], and I can give you more information about my course and what infant observation entails.

Hello all,

I have just started my Master's Degree at Birkbeck College to train as a child and adolescent psychotherapist. My training involves an infant observation where I observe a mother and her baby for one hour a week for the first year of the baby’s life. The observation has to start within the first 7-10 days of the baby’s birth.
My role will be observing in a non-judgemental way.
I understand this is a big commitment for any family but can be very rewarding as well knowing you can be part of transforming someone’s life in future.
Embarking on this journey provides an opportunity for me to develop knowledge and understanding of key stages in human development during the first year of growth and the emotional attachments we all form in early life.
Unfortunately, there are not enough specialists in this field at the moment and demands are huge. That’s why I feel very passionate about developing skills in the mental health sector and working with children in particular.
I am looking for a family with a baby due end of October or November.
If you think you might be able to help, I am happy to provide more information and have a conversation so you can decide whether that’s something you would like to do. My email address is [email protected]
I will be very grateful if you could help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
