Hi, my 2 and half year old ds refuses to walk up or down stairs with support of holding a hand or otherwise. He seems to have developed some sort of fear of any stairs. He used to happily walk up and down at least one step in the garden for example when he was younger but now wont do that. He wont crawl up them or make any attempt to get up them either. He will fling his arms up and insist he is carried up and down any step.
I have tried placing chocolate and some of his favourite things on the stair case and he will just sit and cry on the bottom step. If me or dh go upstairs he wont even attempt to come up.

Ds is a good walker and will walk all over and happily climb on and off sofas and beds which makes me think he is more than capable physically but maybe its psychological?

Any suggestions? Or has anybody has a similar situation with their toddler?

I am pregnant and finding lifting a 2 and a half year old up and down stairs very difficult.

Thanks
