Trying to crawl head down buttom up

Hello mommies .... my baby is now 5 months old and rolling since month 2. However he seems to have an hard time crawling. He points his head on the floor, lifts his bottom therefore getting stocked or maybe getting ahead of few inches and at one point ends up on the floor frustrated but can go nowhere. He has a good head control though and is very responsive to the environment, smiles at people since month 1, sleeps all night waking up twice only for quick feedings. I googled this and found out a research from 1999 that says is a precursor of autism. I am very worried about this and lost some good sleep thinking about it.
Thank you for your answers!

Does he ever sleep on his tummy? The pose in the photo looks like a classic baby sleeping on tummy pic except he's awake and he's practicing tucking in his legs and using his arms to life up his upper body.
I've not heard of it being an autism marker and my kids are NT teens who did this.

He's fine, bless him. He looks cosy too.

Babies typically begin to crawl between 6 and 10 months so he's young yet but some never crawl and start pulling themselves up early.

Totally normal! The study you’re referring to was basically disproved years later - the sample size was tiny and findings never replicated. My DS used to do the same thing and he doesn’t have autism. Nothing to worry about :)

Thank you mommies Smile yes he sleep on the tummy cause he learnt to roll at two months and he prefers that position. he is my first baby and I never paid attention to babies before in my life so everything surprises and scares me a bit, especially thanks to dr. Google, which can turn a normal headhache into a final stage of a brain tumour. I thought he was supposed to do the plank and go crawling from there, like I saw on the net. Instead he is doing this weird downward dog position and then falls on the side and complains about it. How long you think he is gonna go on like this? I feel bad for him cause he want to reach toys and stuff so badly but then he can’t so I have to constantly pick him up. He is cute as well when he gets angry but still. Thanks again ladies Smile

My son is the same and I’ve had the same worries as you. Did anything ever come
Of your worries I can see it’s been a couple years. Lots of love x

Dd started crawling before 16 weeks using nose and toes (commando style). With a few weeks she had the range of the house. She’s mid teens now and absolutely no sign of autism anywhere.

Hi there, my son is doing the same thing. How is your son doing?

My son is trying to crawl with head down and bottom up. Anyone else experience this?
