Feeding my newborn

Hi, I have a week old boy and I am struggling with his food. I am expressing and giving him Formula, which was working a treat until I have changed to powder.

He keeps throwing up, and is always hungry.

I try and make sure all the wind is up as I think that this is the cause but when I wind him I don't get much...

What shall I do? I can't afford to buy the premix, shall I hold out and see how he gets on, it's barley been 24 hours (but he eats a lot) shall I change the powder? Has anyone experienced the same?

I don't want to keep changing his food as within 6 days he has been on breast milk, aptamil formula (the ones with the tips) and now aptamil powder....

Please help!

Is he throwing up full feeds or just bringing up a small amount after his feed? Is he having plenty wet nappies. I think you should probably call your midwife for advice as he is so young.

Thanks for the response, he was bringing up small amounts but after every feed... As it was small amounts I have held out for 24 hrs to see how he gets on and now he is great.. I think his tummy needed to adjust as the powder is a different texture. Thanks again for your response.. at times it's so overwhelming and all you want to do is do what's right by your baby x

oh, that’s great that everything has settled down. Mine are 24, 22 and 13 now but ds2 was a really sicky baby. Mostly just mouthfuls but an entire feed at least once a day. They are such a worry!
