Hi, I have two grown-up sons in their early twenties and I have just returned to study, training to become a child psychotherapist. I'm doing an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling with Children and Adolescents at Birkbeck and learning about child development through mother-infant observation is an integral part of the Year 1 course. The learning it provides forms an important foundation in developing skills for working psychotherapeutically with children and adolescents.
This means that I need to find a mother and very young baby (based in North London) to observe on a weekly basis for hour-long visits. Observations would take place in the family home at a regular time convenient to the mother. They would continue for a year, following through to the baby's first birthday. I realise that this is a BIG ask, but I would be hugely appreciative if any soon-to-be mums are at all interested. It is an entirely voluntary commitment and parents can decide to withdraw at any time. I have official Birkbeck documents explaining more ... Many thanks for taking the time to read this!
