Normal behavior 4 year old boy

I have a step son who is 4 years old, we have him every weekend and have done since he was a baby, I just wanted to ask some advice on behavior. We have my son who is 2.5 and they generally play very well together. But over the last few months the 4 year old has started to behave quite rough to the point of wanting to hurt the 2.5 year old and is obsessed that he is bigger. Other things are he is quite lazy and doing every day tasks eg getting himself dressed, he goes into his own little world, sometimes unaware of personal space, not great at listening. Often kicks things saying bash/ slash. Quite emotional also, gets frustrated easily, wants constant reassurance, has got better at going to other peoples houses but was very timid and would take a long time to come around. I would just like to ask if this is generally normal or if we are missing something, we have heard that he has been pushing and kicking at school, but I think that is getting better.
Many thanks

Absolutely totally completely normal. Ah I was so ignorant when my oldest was 2.5 and I had a newborn. Now at 3 and 6 im a bit wiser and you will be too one day.

He’s 4! That’s what they do and behave at 4.

Thank you, good to have other people's opinions, I don't think squeezing their arm so tightly until they get a reaction is really acceptable behavior and pushing them flying is either but we will continue to monitor .

Did he start school in September?

LottieMW · 30/09/2019 20:51

Yes he did but was acting like this before.. it's not just the pushing it's the not listening and going into his own world, I think he struggles with other children slightly. I know he spends a lot of time in front of his I pad at his mums .
