Shoes for a 1-year-old - Daisy Roots or Start Rite pre-walkers?

DS isn't walking yet and his ShooShoes (like Daisy Roots) are getting too small, so I'm wondering whether to get him some more the same or go for more structured pre-walker shoes. Which are best for little feet?

if he's not walking yet does he need shoes at all?

Daisy Roots are brilliant (when he starts walking)

CarGirl · 12/08/2007 15:10

daisy roots if he actually needs anything on his feet. The crawlers/pre-walkers are actually great first shoes once they have been walking unaided for 6 weeks.

The bloke at the hospital I see for my feet said doodle type shoes are all they ever need once they are actually walking.

daisy roots are great DD1 is 19mths and wears them as slippers in the house.

castille · 12/08/2007 17:18

He is crawling and pulling himself up on the furniture, and is barefoot all the time at the moment, but we have hard and cold tiled floors so he will need something for the autumn as slippers when he's not in non-slip socks, and when we are out (to stop him pulling his socks off).

yes, I'd keep with the soft shoes. Pre-walking shoes are completely a sales ploy and unecessary. I got ds his first proper shoes when he'd been actually walking for a bit.

Till then it was barefoot, or socks, or the soft shoes.

If nothing else, it stops you having to spend 30 quid on a pair of shoes for now; you'll be doing that soon enough, and for enough years!

DD2 is 7mths and crawling/pulling up but leaving her barefoot for the summer, will buy some daisy roots in the winter.
