My son is turning 4 in December. So this year we have decided to sign him up to the kindergarten and we have insisted him to be placed in KG2( kids aged 4-5years old) because his cousin is attending the same class.
However once he started school it was clear for the teacher and even for me that he is a bit younger in behaviour (not in development) than all the other kids. The teacher and principal suggested for him to be placed in KG1(kids aged 3-4) as that is more of his age group and they would give him more attention.
I am little confused, shall I keep him in KG2 and let him follow bigger kids and push him to grow up with them? Or shall I place him with smaller kids so he would feel more confident? Or that will have a different affect as he will go down to their level and will behave like a 3 year old for another year?
I would really like if someone can answer from a psychological point of view.
Thanks
