Anyone else have a high needs clingy baby?

Just want to know I’m not the only one out there.

My DD is 9mo and I love her more than life itself but my god she whinges at so much. When she was newborn up til about 5 months we would go for long walks with the pushchair and she would fall asleep, she would be held by family members and generally be okay.
Once she hit about 6 months she is hard to get to sleep, will not go to anyone but me and DH, literally screams when someone tries to take her, never ever sleeps in the pushchair and screams after about 10 mins.
It’s truly exhausting and I envy mums who have chilled babies who just fall asleep on their own.

Did anyone else have a high needs baby and when did they grow out of it?

I’m going back to work soon and my mum is having her at hers, I don’t think she will know what’s hit her haha

How many naps is she having and at what times? When do you put her to bed at night?

That’s the other problem, I get her to nap when I can and I’ve tried my hardest to get her into a nap routine but she’s so unpredictable. She also wakes up a lot in the night so there isn’t a solid bedtime as I can put her down for th night at 7 and she will be up and refusing to go back to sleep by 9.
For example today I am trying to get the first nap in at 9.15 (we got up at 7) but she’s already rubbing her eyes. However yesterday she was tired at 9.15.

They're all unpredictable OP. That's what they do. You're meant to try to stick to the same times so that they eventually get used to it.

So if you decide that she needs a nap at say 11.00am, then you just keep persevering with that. After a meal is good.

Bedtime....give her a bath an hour or 45 mins before you want her to go to bed. Then feed her, get her all warm and put her to bed.

7-8 is a good night time bedtime...persist....you decide not her. She might kick off but you just quietly pat her and leave her. Don't let her get hysterical obviously but don't bring her downstairs or put the light on.

Perhaps 9.15am is early for a nap..try 10 and then she'll be alert for lunchtime...then a nap after lunch at about 1....

Yeh I'm a big believer in routine too. Everyone told me they'll just nap when they want to. Ha! From one week old my son would not nap unless I pushed him in the pram, and even then it was a battle. I couldn't spend all day doing that! He was getting so tired and cranky. So I started a routine at 8 weeks old. Best thing I could have done. He got used to it and now he's 11 months old and his naps are textbook, it's awesome. But you do have to teach them it. I'd have my 'ideal' time for each nap, but was willing to go maybe 15 or so mins either side of it depending on if he was tired or not. Waking him.up at the same time each day helped. I high recommend the Little Ones Programme (Google it)... that's what we followed and are still following now.
