Baby wakes crying every day

So my baby(who's almost 18 months )wakes up crying pretty much every day. Well kind of.. he wakes fine and I bring him into living room to do milk and change of nappy. As soon as I put him on the floor to play he wiggles around and throws himself on the floor getting really upset. Tv sorts him out then I give breakfast half hour later but I don't like having to constantly give in and put the tv but nothing else works and in any event I don't understand why after some milk and a fresh napy he's still unhappy? He hasn't always been like this, just the last few weeks.

Are you sure he is just not crying so you turn on the TV? toddlers at this age are very good at finding out 'what works' and 'what does not work' in order to meet their needs, and if every morning when he cries you turn on the TV, he must be thinking that crying in the morning is a very effective way for you to turn on the TV! so why would he stop? :)

That might be it but I really don't know . Cue after a half or so of watching it, when I turn it off he's fine again

A few of my friends said maybe he's hungry as
Milk now is just a drink so as of tomo I'm gonna start giving breakfast first thing after milk

As an experiment could you try putting on the tv as you’re giving milk too to see if he cries? If he doesn’t start crying then you’d have a pretty good idea that he’s crying for tv.

No advice on how to handle it if it is the tv he wants but at least then you’d know the reason for the meltdown?

Do u mean turning off the tv? Cos he's not gonna cry if I turn it on.

Why are you giving an 18 m old milk before food? My boys are ravenous when they wake up. Give a beaker of milk/ water with breakfast

Today he had milk first and porridge immediately after which seemed to do the trick as no tantrums and he played nicely all morning. One or two near tears but that's normal
