Getting rid of dummy at night

So basically I had a nearly successful attempt at getting rid of his dummy yesterday. But the main problem is that he wakes up at night to look for it. He's 2.2 and woke up at 3 but I put him back. Then woke up at 5 and cried and said he wanted to play. He didn't want his dummy though. He usually wakes up around 7. I felt bad for him and gave it to him so he could go back to sleep as he slept at 9pm.

He started at the childminders 3 weeks ago and that really disturbed his sleep as well because he started waking up around 6 instead of 7-7.30. I will not be taking him anymore to her as it's not going well for him or me.
