Its a Boy Thing

I have a little boy nearly 1 yr and have noticed he gets very excited about bouncing balls, things to climb, investigate etc. He loves being read to and can pay attention to that for a long time, but my question is this

what are good toys / games to introduce to a 1 yr old boy that will appeal most (I know everyone is different...)

toy cars are always afavourite treains and any big builders

anything with wheels

anything with noise

anything that gives instant reward

cars, megablocks - anything you can stack/build and then knock down/take apart

I got this book out of the library which gave some good ideas for games to play with toddlers

A couple of pans and bowls and lots of pegs. Wooden ones, plastic coloured ones.
For books - most 1 year olds love the peek-a-boo, lift the flap type books.

anything they can pack and unpack - pegs in a bowl for eg, bouncy balls on the kitchen floor (ds gets v excited by this - will chase them round) - lids that can be flipped up and down...noisy things !!

I'm not sure ds was properly into cars until he was closer to 2.

he's always loved pans and things though.

My ds got a Thomas wooden train set at 1.5. he loves it to death, and quickly got good at manouvering the trains and track, learning their names, etc. he likes to line up all the trains at bedtime and is utterly obsessed almost a year later. Quite good value in the end, though the Thomas brand is not cheap.

anything to band - my ds spent ages banging an empty baby milk tin witha wooden spoon! Didnt cost a penny .

Also anything with wheels.
